The Treasury of San Lorenzo comes mainly from the collections of Lorenzo the Magnificent.

St. Mark, Amatus the Abbot, St. Concordia Martyr The oldest relics belonged to him, while his son Pope Leo X and his nephew Pope Clement VII offered the most recent ones.

Thanks to his gifts, one can admire this superb bishop's crozier offered by Leo X.

A gilded silver stock with the weapons of the Medici and the bust of San Lorenzo in the centre of the crozier.

Leon X also offered a mitre encrusted with pearls and precious stones.

The relics of the Treasury of San Lorenzo and their religious character are also masterpieces of goldsmithing, works of art in their own right.

Once a year, at Easter, the relics of these saints were publicly displayed before the Florentines to allow the faithful to be forgiven for their sins.
