Limited Traffic Zone in Florence - ZTL

Limited Traffic Zone Map ZTL in Florence in Italy
ZTL Zone Florence
From Monday to Friday, from 7:30 to 20:00 and on Saturday from 7:30 to 16:00, most of Florence is a ZTL, a restricted traffic zone forbidden to non-residents.

From the first Thursday in April to the last Sunday in October and from Thursday to Saturday, a nocturnal ZTL Zone is active from 23:00 to 3:00 in the morning.

During these periods, access is controlled electronically (see the mandatory entry and control points on the map opposite).

To enter, you must notify the parking company you have chosen or your hotel or accommodation well in advance.

Red ZTL signs on main avenues signal this ban or the authorization to drive for all (display of the sign in green).

Cameras take photos of license plates and compare them with the database. Everything will be fine if you have a ZTL pass obtained from your hotel or the car park where you will park. Otherwise, you will have to pay a fine.

The ZTL pass you get will only be valid for one or more zones, so be careful not to enter the others (see the map above).

Your hotel reservation or car rental will not be enough. You will have to inform your hotel or the parking company well in advance by indicating your registration.

You can park outside the hotel for a maximum of 1 hour. This requires parking in the car parks provided for this purpose.

However, motorcycles are not affected by the ZTL!

Finally, ZTL or not, be careful, as in other cities, not to drive on traffic lanes reserved for buses, taxis, police cars and ambulances.

Parking in Florence

You should know that parking in Florence is difficult and rather expensive, you need to count on average between 28 and €35 per 24 hours or agree to park outside Florence and take the tram to then access the city centre.

The car park of Villa Costanza, which can be reached by tram from Florence train station, represents the cheapest solution with a price of €7 per day, €20 per week and €40 per month. It takes just under half an hour of tram with frequencies of three minutes.
